Edge AI compute for the Crazyflie is now available! The AI-deck is intended for researchers and developers who want to build and experiment with their own embedded AI applications.

It combines a GAP8 processor and a grayscale camera to provide the hardware for onboard perception and AI processing. The platform is lightweight and low-power, making it ideal for prototyping and experimentation on the Crazyflie 2.x UAV for users familiar with embedded system development.

The onboard ESP32 provides WiFi connectivity and can be programmed for custom communication or integration tasks. Functionality such as AI workloads and connectivity is intended to be developed by the user, making the platform highly adaptable for custom research and prototyping.

Requirements for Setup

To set up and use this board, a compatible JTAG programmer/debugger is required for flashing, debugging, and restoring the bootloader. Please review the setup instructions carefully and ensure you have the necessary accessories and familiarity with embedded systems development before purchase.

 

We recommend the Olimex ARM-USB-TINY-H.

The AI-deck 1.1 version only has minor updates compared to the AI-deck 1.0. The Himax camera module is now the greyscale version and the GAP8 is now revision C instead of B. For more details read this blog post and if the Bayer RGB version camera is wanted it can be bought stand alone here.
